UNLOCK 1

UNLOCK 1

Deep within the bowels of The Syndicate science wing, a screen was blinking closer to one hundred percent. A simulation of sorts that had been running for weeks finally coming to a close, the data it had been sorting through vast,  years of work finally reaching a critical point. As it reached the final mark the screen turned blue, illuminating the lab and its two inhabitants in a cold glow.

“Simulation complete,” a male AI spoke through the speakers. “Probability of success is now 38%.”

Almost halfway there.

There was a collective sigh of relief in the room. This was the first concrete sign of improvement in months, all other simulations ending in a sudden nose dive to their success rates. This was a good sign, this was promising. It also wasn’t going to end in them getting their asses collectively handed to them over a simulation they had no control over.

Whatever they were doing with the subject’s it was finally starting to have an impact. The intense regime of testing, of pushing more and more poor souls through the process was starting to change things. To bring forth more possibilities.

The two scientists within the room collectively jumped as the door behind them swooshed open, a man with a haggard face and a pristine lab coat striding in, arms held tightly at his back and chest pushed forward. “Well?” he asked briskly, voice accented heavily.

“38% this time sir,” a young woman answered, tapping at a keyboard to bring up the data. “The improvement to living conditions seems to have had a slight impact over last time, though it seems the S-Gene’s own...fluctuations are the cause for the majority of the success.”

“Hardly anything noteworthy then,” the man replied, scoffing and stepping forward to view the data himself.  “What's the word on the T0 fluid?”

“Inconclusive,” the young woman swallowed, glancing quickly at her colleague. “Each strain has proven to be...irregular, it doesn’t seem to have a lasting impact on subjects but I’m sure Doctor Lawrence would be able to-”

“No need,” the man replied curtly, stroking his chin and staring firmly at the screen. “Roll it out, we have the subjects here we may as well use them.”

“But sir some of the effects are-”

“Irrelevant,” he cut her off. “Pandering to their needs will only get us so far, we won’t have anything of use for the next simulation if we continue to baby them.”

The woman made to open her mouth again, a hand on her shoulder from her colleague silencing her. The older man continued.

“They are no longer Human Doctor Williams,” he said, voice edged with a hint of malice as if the idea of them being anything other than test subjects appalled him. “They ceased to be such the moment they subjected themselves to the program...they are the future, but they cannot be allowed to get out of control.”

“Yes sir…”

“Excellent, have Lawrence implement the fluid via their morning routine...it shall be...interesting to see how they cope outwith training facilities.”

[[ PLOT UNLOCK ONE: THE SCIENTISTS ARE TESTING THE PROBABILITY OF SOMETHING WHICH IS DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY THE SUBJECTS EXISTANCE AND CHOICES WITHIN THE FACILITY. THE RESULTS OF WHICH DETERMINE THEIR NEXT MOVE AND THE LIVES OF THE PARTICIPANTS. ]]

EVENT 1

It’s midday when Margo speaks across The Syndicate’s speakers. Voice ringing out clear and chipper as she addresses the participants under her care. There had been a distinct lack in anything of note lately, something it was possible the participants had noted, or perhaps simply been grateful for. Unwilling to push their luck.

“For the period of Monday the 10th to Sunday the 16th of July, you will all randomly be given a vial which you should consume in the morning,” she spoke clearly, unphased by the information she was delivering. “The Vials impact will be monitored and should only show its effects for 24 hours after consumption.”

“Refusing to consume the Vial will result in a punishment, you can choose to take a strike and be allowed to resume life as normal, or you will be confined to your room for the day.”

What do you do?

Test Tubes

Roll a !roll 1d7 !VIAL to discover which day your character will receive the vial. Margo will DM you on this day with the instructions and effect of the vial should your character wish to take it. Each day the vial will have a different effect on those who choose to consume it, for that day you can have your characters show the effects in SIM if you wish! They will also have the option of refusing the take the Vial and will be able to choose a punishment within the DM hc session.

The entire event will run over two weeks (From Monday the 10th to Monday the 24th) to give you time to RP, draw, or HC the various events which go down for your character.

  • All Art, RP’s and Lit that involve the event content will be eligible for the Event Bonus!

  • Completing an Event Task will also incur the Task bonus, this can be stacked with the event bonus!

  • Each Vial is linked to a stat which will see a 2 POINT increase after taking the vial.

- Draw, write, or RP your character dealing with the results of the Vial the day after, how did they manage the experience?
- Draw, write, or RP your character with someone else who is dealing with the effects of the vial. Are they trying to help or hinder?

  • If your character refused to drink the Vial, how did they react to others going through the effects? Draw, write or Rp this!

*Please note, some Vials will result in rather unpleasant experiences for your character, others will be funny and some will have the potential for angst. Proceed with caution.*
