PREMISE

MISSION STATEMENT

The Syndicate is a government-funded organization seeking to push the boundaries of science and further experiment with Human Potential. The Syndicate defies the notion that the next stage of human evolution is unlikely to happen naturally in our lifetime, utilizing expert knowledge and years of research to trigger the next stage of humanity NOW! A groundbreaking feat that has allowed several in our care to achieve feats beyond current human ability. Described even as superhuman.

Sadly not all are able to achieve this next stage of evolution, a fact we are looking to correct.

For now, our sights are set on further understanding what this next stage holds for us, what other abilities it can unlock. However, to do this we require further volunteers...those with the ability to progress to the next stage. Volunteering comes with a list of benefits including our stunning and safe accommodation, endless entertainment, and of course...the key to your potential.

What wonders are at your fingertips? What abilities could you unlock?

Do you volunteer?

OVERVIEW

The S-Gene is a genetic mutation that gives bearers the potential to achieve feats not possible by average human beings. The gene was first discovered after an individual, Patient X, walked into redacted Hospital claiming he had been having unusual episodes. The patient was thought to be mentally unwell until the event in which he spontaneously burst into flames. Those in the immediate vicinity did not survive. Patient X surrendered himself to the authorities and was taken in for government testing.

With the situation under control and kept out of the public eye, there was a period in which the government waited for a wave of these people to surge up, media having already set a dangerous precedent within fiction which led them to believe the public gaining knowledge of this situation would be disastrous. Left waiting with bated breath during an already tumultuous time. Yet it never happened. Instead, they only had Patient X.

Under the guise of helping him, scientists were able to locate the gene and begin experimenting further. The potential benefits of such a thing were endlessly promising but the government in power at the time of course saw the military potential first and foremost. Experiments to utilize and adapt this gene by splicing it with existing human biology came into play, prisoners on death row the first to participate in the experiments, voluntarily of course. If they survived they would be free of their death sentence...if they died well. They would have died anyway.

Only 3 of the 50 participants survived the initial tests. Leading to the discovery of the receptor agent, a sign within some humans that they were susceptible to developing the S-Gene at some stage. By splicing it, they could trigger this transformation early, they could be successful.

Naturally, the way forward was to begin to find more volunteers, with death row, exhausted they began spreading out, searching for others who could participate in the trials. Testing for the receptor agent. The project was advertised as the discovery of the next step in human evolution, something which it was felt would bring many rushing, all hoping to be more than they were. Taking advantage of the masses.

Those who passed the test were transported to the Syndicate.

The basis of the story is exploring what characters would do when placed in a situation where they choose to become extraordinary at the cost of their freedom. These characters are placed together and exposed to various experiments that will test their newfound abilities.

They are also forced to mix with others like them who have all chosen the same thing for their own reasons.

As the story progresses the characters will face further exploration of their situation and will have to face who they have become.
